Travelling and exercise don’t generally go together. Many of us class a holiday as a time to treat yourself and over-indulge, so although it is easily done, don’t let your exercise routine slack when you travel.
Don’t worry, we’re not about to tell you to ditch the 2 for 1 cocktails and spend the day in the hotel gym! Just follow our simple tips on keeping fit whilst on holiday!
Don’t over-do it at the buffet
We’ve all been there, you’re at an all-inclusive and just can’t help yourself! But are you really getting the most for your money or just unnecessarily overeating?
You can find that balance of enjoying yourself and not taking it too far. A treat every now and then won’t hurt but when it’s every day, does it even count as a treat anymore? It is easy to treat yourself whilst also prioritising your health and diet, it is all about balance.
Keep active
You don’t have to perform your normal routine, you are on holiday after all, but just staying active in small ways will keep you on track.
Try walking for 20 minutes each day, or daily swimming, or even just 20 minutes lifting weights. Doing little things here and there won’t slow down your progress. If anything, it will make it easier for you to continue with your regular routine when you get back home as your body won’t have forgotten what it is like to be active.
Drink enough water
When you’re out of your normal routine, you may find it harder to keep up with your water intake. However, staying hydrated is extremely important!
Try taking your reusable bottle with you and refill it anywhere you can. This makes it easier for you to keep track of how much water you’re drinking and is also better for the environment if you’re not constantly purchasing single-use plastic bottles! It’s a win win situation, right?!
Take exercise equipment with you
Just because you can’t take the entire squat rack with you doesn’t mean you can’t do anything at all whilst you’re travelling! Explore alternative options, such as taking lightweight exercise equipment with you. This will ensure you can keep on top of your regime whilst travelling.
Mobile gym equipment that can come away with you could include a couple of dumbbells, ankle weights, and a yoga mat. Doing yoga whilst taking a break from your everyday life is a fantastic way to relax and thoroughly enjoy your holiday.
Don’t forget to also pack your muscle recovery tools – your muscles still need looking after while you’re away. The Pulseroll recovery products are lightweight and portable enough to pack in your suitcase – they can also fit perfectly in your hand luggage, making them ideal for muscle recovery on the go. Try the vibrating foam roller or vibrating peanut roller to keep muscles in the best condition. They are both lightweight exercise equipment that works to help ease muscle soreness, prevent injury, and increase blood flow to the muscle.
